Life at UVa
this is the second highest ranked public school in the country, public because it takes 66%of its students from virginia, it has an incredible history and a strong reputation for producing excellence, which is funny because it's star pupil edgar allen poe metriculated for one semester in 1826 , while he was at colege for that one semester he accrued many debts which his father refused to pay, he then went on to be an alcoholic and die in the streets of baltimore, the latter part is not mentioned on the little sign outside his room, it just says he left. But they celebrate poe so much as to have a flock of ravens brought in to live on the lawn after his poem 'the raven', woodrow wilson a former president also metriculated at UVa and many more,. it was the brainchild of thomas jefferson and it began in 1817 after many of planning and designing,

-the cost is 17thousand a year on average for an interstate student(at newy uni i incur about 10grand a year so thats like 8 grand in us dollars), and i met some people from overseas who are paying 44thousand dollars a year, the cost is high and so is the workload, i already have to have several books read by this week, more than i have read my entire time at newy uni!!! and the religion thing, wow, in the philosophy classes, god gets many a mention, they are still hung up with the old fella, its also in the texts they prescribe currently i am reading st augustine's confessions, i think in australia you can deal with the religious issue if you want to delve into it, but here it seems more mandatory.

i went out to dinner with misael my roomate from etheopia and all his friends, some of them from nigeria, siera lione, cameroon, the guy from nigeria doesnt drink and he had a long island iced tea, so he was a few sheats to wind, i asked him why etheopia hadn't been colonized, he said 'the red coats took one look at them scrawny bastards and said 'you're all too skinny!' so they left and gave them the rations out of pity!.. none of them can drink at all , they had two drinks during dinnner and where stumbling around and rambling in the car park

i also hang out with a group of germans, i am an aussie in america hanging out with germans, one of the german girls wants me to do intelectual history of philosphy its a 700 honors level course but i think ill try it out, plus she is a blonde bombshell who likes existentialism.

this is my first meal, i bought the pot the knifes and forks and the pasta sauce, pasta and cheese, but i didn't know i needed a bowl , but eating out of the pot is ok and i went to harris tweeter today and picked up a plastic bowl. my new meal plan is one can of salmon and maybe one or two rice pasta meals a day,




















this is edgar allen poe's room, its in the old section, people still have rooms next door, and you can notice the plastic raven on the window!! and that is jacob he also lives at faulkner, he is a history major and was helping me become learned on the great history at uva , i am putting up a link to his myspace blog so you read about all his neurocies!! he is a genious
