new years cheer

san fran is cool, probably even my favourite city, its hard to beat boston but it might come close. I was just tired and exhausted before, it was three am and i had been travelling, and i was really sad to leave the south, so i needed to vent. Same with new york city i really enjoyed it, but staying at a cheap hostel in harlem became a drag, so i got down on nyc. Anyway its still only 9pm new years eve, and i just came down from drinking on the balacony with a great view of the golden gate bridge. This city is incredibly beautiful.
Im to revel in my own crapulence, cheerio.

Hi Dan,
Long time no speak.

I just checked out your blog for the first time in a little while and I'm a bit confused - do you like San Fran or not? In one post you couldn't wait to get out of there, and then in another you say that it's one of your favourite cities.

Well I really liked it anyway. It was a great way to finish off my trip because it was so different to the East Coast places that I went.

Where are you staying? I stayed in the hostel on the corner of Ellis and Larkin Sts. It's in the Tenderloin region, so it wasn't a very nice area but the hostel itself was really nice and it was only 6 blocks away from Union Square.

Anyway, Happy New Year - I'm jealous that you got to celebrate NYE looking over the Golden Gate Bridge.

yeah liz san fran is awesome. I was just jet lagged and tired, and then i was at a pizza shop at 3am and these italian and french people pushed in line in front of me, so thats why i went on the rant, hehe, i dont really hate italians or europeans, maybe just the french! im staying at the green tortoise, its really nice. San fran is really different from the east coast, especially the south! Im thinking of hiring a car for a day and going down to santa cruz or over to yosemite, because ill be here for eight more days.
Happy new year!

Hi Dan,
Yeah, apparently Yosemite is really nice. Have you been to Fisherman's Wharf or Pier 39 yet? I loved the sea lions. The cable cars are really cool - you can get a 3 day or 7 day pass which makes it heaps cheaper.

yeah there are soooooooooo many strip joints, girls girls girls! the green tortoise is awesome, it has a great vibe. The sea lions were so random, i had no idea, and then i looked down and there were hundreds of sea lions, sea lions are hilarious. They seem so useless, they just sit about roaring and flailing there little limbs. Im going to ride a bike over the golden gate bridge tomorrow. Last night we saw the fireworks, which were cool, but nothing like sydney. Aussies are obsessed with spending exhorbanant amounts of money on pyrotechnics. And the san fran hooters was a bit of a let down.

Who is mismanaging your funds Daniel? Will put some money in your travelex today.....

Daniel
Unlike the visa debit card that you lost, the travelex money takes 24 hours to process, so you will be penniless for a day or two.....

But wasn't the $15 call to Coolongolook worth it - you got to speak to your cool sister and brother-in-law. I stayed at the Green Tortoise for about a week I think when I was over there 10 years ago. Good to see some of the good old establishments still exist.
