Swearing Aussies scare off Iranians
Friday Jun 22, 2007
Australian sailors with a "robust attitude" repelled Iranian forces who were attempting to capture them just a month before a British patrol was snared in the same part of Iraq.
---i copied this straight from ninemsn.com, i knew jroc would get a kick out of it.

I will put up a picture of the photo from the newspaper ad, its also in the maitland mercury today. So toyota is using our house, as a way to create brand goodwill. I feel so used and abused. Again there is a full page ad saying how they are so thankful for the ses and police and fire brigade. All of whom did nothing for us.

Anyway, lac, if you look at the photo, you will see that the top shed is surrounded by water, but is dry. So we moved all the stuff from the house up there, and that is where my motorbike generally lives anyway. So its safe. But that shed was surrounded by water from saturday till friday. So i lived in it for six days.

And i see the poetic justice, of a vengful god. On thursday two days before the flood, i made a post saying i should build an arc. And, well, let's just say i should have built the damn arc instead of drinking the whiskey.

Quotes:
'I want these motherfucking snakes off the motherfucking plane!"
***
Meg: Finally, look Mom I've had it. I'm not babysitting anymore. It's Saturday night I could be out having a life.
Lois: Meg, if you don't wanna babysit anymore that's fine, but don't you stand there and lie to me.
Peter: OH-HO Meg, she torched your ass man! She torched your ass.

The house and sheds was on the front page of The Age Newspaper in Melbourne - it is almost an A4 size picture and it is in colour. It shows your house, the 2 sheds and some of the surrounding farmland (you can just see Dougs shed in the background) - Georgia bought up a copy of the paper and I have contacted The Age and am getting a copy of the photo (they at least know where the photo came from - not like Toyota).

ahh yes, toyota. Who cares if they want to get some goodwill, at least contact the freaking people involved, and offer them a framed photo of the very house they own, and the very house they are using to induce sympathy in the population to push their own brand goodwill- showing how much they care. How can a major corporation be so blatant and naive when exploiting a situation? It was i who lived, for a week, in the very hayshed they are portraying as a 'flood victim' and as a place that received much community support. I tell you know, if it wasn't for brett, jan and pete muggleton and dave lonegan, and steve panos, all friends of the family who helped us actualy escape the flood, then we would have lost it all, and for toyota to exploit us, without so much as a notification just makes me sick. How on earth can they thank the ses, fire brigade and police, while showing our photo, without even some basic research as to what those organizations did? how i ask, how. Without greed being metioned. Because if it was honourable, you would have sought to actually find out how the people in the photograph are doing. Which you didn't. I might aswell be drowned for all you know.

Hey, God's not that vengeful. I mean a ship not unlike an arc did show up on our shores when it started to flood. Coincidence? Or divine intervention? It's just a pity there was no ladder or something to get on the damn thing. But I reckon if the flood had continued for 40 days and 40 nights then the pasha baulker would have made a fine arc.

P.S. Good to hear your bike is safe and sound.

i still think they should put some cafes in the pasha bulker, and some specialty stores, and build a boardwalk out to it, it could be a trendy place for newcastle's elite. And then when the rains come again it will serve as a fine arc. Just like in Steve carrele's upcoming movie 'evan almighty' which was shot in parts of charlottesville.
